BIOGRAPHY
Katharina Gilcher nasce a Landau, in Germania, nel 1978, ma cresce a San Felice Circeo, in provincia di Latina. All'età di vent'anni si trasferisce a Roma dove frequenta un Master triennale all'Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e Comunicazione Integrata. Si diploma nel 2004 ed Inizia a fare esperienza nel campo del fotogiornalismo lavorando per il quotidiano tedesco "Die Lampertheimer Zeitung". Il suo entusiasmo per la fotografia la spinge ad approfondire altri aspetti di quest'arte e così parte per Londra dove frequenta due workshops "Working in Freelance Photography" e "Landscape Photography" al prestigioso Central Saint Martins College. Inizia in questo modo la sua ricerca artistica che prende forma nei suoi primi progetti personali. Tornata in Italia si trasferisce a Firenze, dove, dopo un periodo come assistente del fotografo Patricio Estay, diventa un membro dell'agenzia internazionale "Nazca Piuctures". Al momento vive e lavora a Latina.
Katharina Gilcher was born in Landau, Germany, in 1978 and grew up in Italy in San Felice Circeo, Latina. At the age of twenty she moved to Rome where she took a three year masters at the "Istituto Superiore di Fotografia and Comunicazione Integrata", from where she graduated in June 2004. She gained experience in the field of photo-journalism working as a reporter for the German daily newspaper "Die Lampertheimer Zeitung". Her enthusiasm for photography made her come to the decision to pursue other aspects of this art, and so she went to London to take part in one of the "Working in freelance photography" and "Landscape Photography" workshops at the influential Central Saint Martins College. Her artistic research began this way and took shape in the development of her early personal projects. Back in Italy she moved to Florence where, after an initial phase as photographic assistant to Patricio Estay she became a member of the international agency "Nazca Pictures".
